Tuckwell Open-Air Theatre Festival 2025: Saint Joan
Joan believes she was sent by god – her foes believe she should be sent back.
Stripping away the myths that grew up around her Shaw’s play (which won him a Nobel prize in 1925) examines the dramatic rise and equally rapid fall of Joan of Arc as she strives to fulfil her mission to drive the English from France in the face of social forces that wanted to ensure that a powerful female voice was suppressed, especially one that dared to claim that her calling was directly sanctioned by god.
Acclaimed local theatre company Here To There brings this complex and compelling play to the Tuckwell Theatre for one night only – Saturday 16 August 7.00pm.
